This year’s 10th year national celebration of the Cerebral Palsy Awareness and Protection (CPAP) Week starts with Advocacy Motorcade on September 16, 2013, 7:00 AM at SM North EDSA, Quezon City. The Motorcade which will be participated in by constituents with cerebral palsy and officials and social welfare officers of local government units in Marikina, Antipolo, Rodriguez, Manila,Mandaluyong, Makati, Taguig, Valenzuela, Paranaque, Pateros, Las Pinas, Navotas, San Mateo, Caloocan, Pasay and Quezon Cities together with officials and representatives from the national government agencies, disabled people’s organizations and the civil society organizations will run towards Epifaniodelos Santos Avenue (EDSA). They will meet to converge in LTO (Land Transportation Office) Pasay City, and move towardSM Paranaque Citywhere the participants will celebrate the Thanksgiving Holy Mass, Musical and Family Fun Day. Congressman Eric L. Olivarez will be expected to give a keynote message.
Executive Director Carmen Reyes-Zubiaga of the National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA), the lead person on disability affairs, said that Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) heads the Advocacy Motorcade.
Other activities during the Week include, the (1) 2nd Scientific Congress on Cerebral Palsy at Duque Hall, Department of Health on September 17. Topics to be discussed are: The Clinical Eye on Cerebral Palsy; Promoting Good Nutrition (Nutrition Challenges), Feeding as an Activity for Daily Living, Reality Check: Growing Up CP Parent’s Perspective and Health Care Support for CP. (2) Community Lay Forum (Demo on Gardening and Farming) and its livelihood opportunities on September 19, 2013 at Aseana Business Park, Paranaque City. (3) Boccia Sport Games and Classification for CP on September 20 at SM City Marikina. (4) Recollection for CP at Sto. Espiritu Parish Church, Sta. Cruz, Manila, and (5) Awarding of CP Achievers/Induction of CP Officers on September 22 at the Amoranto Theatre, Amoranto Sports Complex, Quezon City.
