NCDA BOARD RESOLUTION NO. 4 S/2021

A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE GUIDELINES FOR THE PROVISION OF ASSISTIVE DEVICES AND TECHNOLOGY SERVICES IN THE PHILIPPINES

WHEREAS, for many persons with disabilities, assistive devices and technologies are essential to realizing their full rights and equal participation in the community and the larger society. Assistive devices and technology reduce the impact of impairment on functioning and improve quality of life of many persons with disabilities. Assistive devices and technology allows for increased personal mobility, independence and self-care as well as facilitate participation in activities related to education, social and community life, culture, leisure, recreation, spiritual life, livelihood, employment and sports.

WHEREAS, these guidelines aim to guide government stakeholder in the provision of assistive device and technology services for children, youth, women, men and elderly persons with disabilities, especially the poor and those living in rural areas. The principles and standards, procedures and examples are intended to advance government programs and activities related to the provision of assistive devices and technology for persons with disabilities.

WHEREAS, the Sub-Committee on Auxiliary Social Services developed the Guidelines for the Provision of Assistive Devices and Technology Services in the Philippines. These guidelines shall provide standards for all government entities providing assistive devices and technology in light of ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities.

NOW THEREFORE, RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, the Board approves the Guidelines for the Provision of Assistive Devices and Technology Services in the Philippines.

RESOLVED FURTHER, that the appropriate government agency be requested to disseminate the Guidelines for the Information and adoption of the local government units.
