In line with the Government’s thrust to promote the National Tourism Development Plan (NTDP) among duty bearers and stakeholders, the National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) and the Department of Tourism (DOT) Central Office and Region VI jointly conduct the said forum on October 28, 2015 at Boracay Tropics Resort, Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan.

The seminar primarily aims to teach frontliners in the tourism/business industry on how to deal and handle customers with disabilities, such as those with orthopedic, hearing and visual impairments, among others. The front- liners include front desk officers/personnel in hotels, restaurants and similar establishments; transport operators and other public conveyance utilities; and tour guides, among others. Other participants include national and local government officials of the government who spearhead the implementation of the tourism industry in the region and the province of Aklan, representatives of disabled peoples organizations and the media.

During the seminar, experts in handling persons with disabilities will deliver lectures and demonstration on the basic courtesies, handling their needs, and such other necessities required by their customers.
