In sympathy and support to the Japanese earthquake victims particularly persons with disabilities, NCDA OIC Matt Lee, Jr. sent with dispatch, a message to Mr. Shoji Nakanishi, the Executive Officer of the Japan Council on Independent Living Centers (JCLIC).
Mr. Shoji Nakanishi , now leads the emergency relief operations for earthquake victims with disabilities in Japan, set up by the Japan Disability Forum (JDF) composed of 13 Disabled People’s Organizations nationwide. In particular, the message supports the petition and efforts of the Japan Federation of the Disabled (JFD) composed of 13 Disabled People’s Organizations from all over Japan, to set up an emergency relief center for victims with disabilities now based in JCLIC, led by its Director elect Mr. Nakanishi. Late last year, the latter engaged the Council to take up ways to strengthen local independent living centers, using their best practices in Japan.
